Born on 5 October 1976, Edgard Vincens is a seasoned sailor with 25 years of experience in ocean racing. Edgard Vincens is a Girondin at heart and lives in Bordeaux. In his terrestrial life, he’s a wine merchant. Passionate about sailing since the age of 8, his first ocean race was at the age of 13 when he sailed across the Atlantic with Jean-Jacques Granchamp, a legendary co-record-holder for Atlantic crossings with Eric Tabarly. In 1997, he was the youngest sailor in the Solitaire du Figaro, and since then, he has accumulated a worthy set of achievements in several categories. With a profile as tactical helmsman, he’s a perfectionist in the preparation of his boat and his physical and mental condition for racing.

In 2020 he decided to embark on the most ambitious venture of his career: to perform at the highest possible level in the Class40 category ,in a new boat with the latest technological innovations. This is how Destination Grand Large was born, marking the first of 25 ocean races for Edgard Vincens between 2022 and 2026, including the Transat Jacques Vabre and the Route du Rhum.
